Sometime during the night I decided that it might be nice to stay one more day in Sioux Falls. For one, I liked the city, for two, I liked my location at the hotel since I am right next to the pool and don't need to embarrassingly walk down the hall very far, for three, I thought it would be nice to sit around, watch tv or just read, and here is the most important reason - I just wanted to.
I called the front desk right when I woke up to see if I could stay in the room another night. Becky, the front desk person told me that there were "buses" coming in and all of the "kings" (which I took to mean kingsize beds) were sold out and I couldn't stay in the room. I could pack up my stuff and move up to 2 "queens" on the 3rd floor.
I took that as a sign that maybe I was meant to get on the road instead. I decided I should make coffee and then get things together and I got a call from Becky who told me she moved someone else and I could stay. Needless to say I took this as another sign and thanked her immensely.
Right after that I decided to open up the curtains and saw that it was raining, the wind was blowing and it was very dark outside. All of a sudden my urge to stay put one more day was a great decision.
I spent the morning reading USA Today, taking a nice hot leisurely bath, transferring some of my contact info to my cell phone, watching President Obama nominate Elena Kagan for the next supreme court justice and just hanging out.
For lunch I decided to treat myself and went to the first restaurant in South Dakota to "go green" which was a Mediterranean restaurant called Sanaa's. I met the owner who gave me suggestions on what to eat and I had a great lunch. I think I am going to need to work out twice in the pool today.
After lunch I walked next door to a cute shop called Simply Perfect and saw so many little cute trinkets and things. I did break down and buy charms for myself that seemed to fit my trip. One was an "R", the other said "journey" and the last was one that said "just be". Seemed quite appropriate.
On the way back from downtown, I saw a sign that made me turn around and go back. I went into the biggest liquor store that I have ever been in. The sign called me, and then once I was in I bought a bottle of wine and a six pack knowing that I was probably going to stay in tonight and I might want a drink before I go to bed. It was the best place. They had every kind of liquor you could want, a sparkling wine section that was extensive, several rows of wines and then a good size area of craft or micro brewery beers. So much for changing the theme of the Burning Women Journey.
This afternoon I am spending time on introspection (or a nap, if I fall asleep). Tomorrow I decide to head towards Iowa which puts me on the path home, or take a detour and extend the trip. That will be a call I make later tonight. I'll see if the wine or beer offers any insight.
I just heard on the news that I am only 1 hour away from the store that is selling FAKE marijuana. If I decide to do a detour, I can promise you it won't be in that direction.
I am off to watch Oprah now....and I'll let you know how the rest of the night goes....
So you while you know that I have not been one to make suggestions about what you should do, I think I know what your third career should be. What about the "Burning Woman Brewery"? I can picture it now, a stick lady with her hair on fire for your logo. And since I am a good son I would be willing to get training and become your brewmaster.
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I think JT is on to something! I Love, Love this idea! Maybe I could be your hostess! Burning Woman Brewery! Breaking the barriers! Let's do it!

Brother, I am clearly the only one of us who has brewed, so I'd be happy to keep you on as "grain boy" or "wort stirrer". Beyond that, not sure where we can use you.
