Most things that you see driving along highways look the same no matter what state you are in. But there is one thing that I noticed in Kansas that I did not see in Missouri prior or in Nebraska after. Really - I don't know that I have ever noticed them before. But, in Kansas, the signs for roads have arrows pointing in both directions. I thought it was a bit odd, but maybe it makes sense. Not all roads do go both ways, but it was different for me.
The one thing that I saw that was very familiar was lilac bushes. The first person I thought of was my old Hopkins neighbor Deb, who had the most beautiful bushes in her yard and would let me cut some. I also remembered going to Mackinac Island and all of the lilac bushes there - the smell of lilacs is such a nostalgic smell that I just had to pull off on a side road, drive down a the road a bit, get out of the car and smell the bushes. I must admit that I did break off one little spray and refreshed the car.
My little Alice Acura is looking like a traveling pro....tomorrow we need to find a car wash..
The Lialic bush in my back yard is in full bloom, too. Every morning I get up and think to myself "I really should cut a bouquet and take them to work with me." Although no one will apppreciate them as much as I, Lilacs are such a powerful flower. They're almost hypnotic.
