I am so open to new experiences and also know that the universe is guiding me to certain things and certain places. So, when I left Cheyenne this morning, I decided to drive to Laramie, WY and see what the University of Wyoming looked like and then I would head to Fort Collins and check out the micro brewery scene. Why is this becoming a theme? (I don't think you can ever stop being a mother and doing some things for your children. I have got to get some brewery glasses with the logo on them for the boys.)
Interestingly enough, I got to Laramie and realized I needed to get my oil changed on the car, needed to get my phone checked and for some reason this morning, my computer decided to act up. I figured since I was in a college town, there would be the services I need. Got my oil changed and after asking a fellow patron at the quick change place was told how to get to a Verizon store and a computer place.
Talk about feeling the duh......I told the manager that I was not able to hear any of my voice message for the last couple of days. I had no idea what happened, but I had several messages from people that I could not get. For sure, something was wrong with the phone. Right.....he futzed with the phone for a minute and then I could hear the messages. I asked him to please show me what he did in case it happened again and he gave me this pathetic look and showed me how to push up the volume on the side button. Duh....I know there was some alien thing that happened when I visited Rock City....it could not be so simple.
I next stopped down the road at Falcon Technology and asked if they could check my computer to see why I could not get on the internet. Everything worked great last night, but when I was having coffee this morning and trying to send the first post, I could not connect to the internet. And when I tried to link to Yahoo, I got 52 links that told me it was not working. I closed all the windows and the links to yahoo kept trying to open. I shut it down and tried again and the same thing happened. It was only 46 windows, but it was clear something was not working. I am not sure we ever did find out the problem, but Frank was able to uncheck a few things that were automatically opening when I booted up, and once he did what he did, I could once again get back on line. Thank you Frank. The good news is that he did not charge me anything to check and fix the mysterious problem.
Needless to say, the late morning seemed to be taken up by technical and maintenance issues. So I decided that if I got as far as Fort Collins, I would be happy. I could hit the breweries, see the town and get some insight into how to handle Rocky Mountain National Park.
Just as I was getting ready to take off again, I saw this store called Birds of Paradise. It was a little jewel in the middle of nowhere. The clothes were very fun and edgy, but still styling. I saw lots that I could wear, but kept telling myself that I did not need anything. What don't I have that I need to have. That is my key question. Well....low and behold, there was the cutest hat that I just had to try. I am definitely not a hat girl, but this one seemed to be okay and I didn't look that dorky. At least in my mind. Of course, it was a cute little white thing with black polka dots and blends with everything else I where. I could not walk out of the store without having it for my trip. More than anything I am going to be fashionably challenged. I have the cowboy boots and pearl thing going and now I am going to add an English Twiggy look too. By the end of this trip I could be a really messed up diva.
Since I had already blown most of the day, I decided to take it very easy. Good decision on my part. I was able to relax, experience a few things and get ready for what will be the physical part of the week. And of course, I got to taste some fun beers.
And yes, I am going to go hiking tomorrow. Of course I need to get out my winter coat, hat and gloves. Good thing I packed them. I have to admit that I did not thing I would ever have to use them.........but again, what do I know. The woman at the visitor center in Fort Collins said that there can be snow in June.
