Taking a New Look at Familiar Things - Is this really me?

I woke up at my typical time.....8:30 am. I have found that it must be my natural bio-rhythm and no matter where I am or what I am doing, if I don't set the alarm, I just wake up at 8:30 something....so today it was 8:39 am. I was in no hurry to leave for any reason....but my private little hotel did not have a free breakfast or even a coffee pot in the room. No wonder it was so cheap....Knowing I would need some caffeine soon, I did a quick get ready, packed up the car and got on the road. It is amazing how fast you can get out the door when you decide not to do your hair or put on make-up. I had on a really baggy pair of jeans, a little tighter black shirt and my trusty cowboy boots. (Thank goodness I went back to the storage unit and threw them into the car at the last minute - have worn them ever since) Once I hooked my blackberry on the waistband and had to cuff my pants due to a wet pavement, I looked like a butch without a mate.....Of course I didn't realize that until I got out of the car later and walked into a gas station and felt myself do a bit of a swagger.....

I missed the turn for the gas station in Macon and planned on getting off the road at the nearest exit that had the signs for a gas station or a McDonald's. I needed the coffee, but was able to distract myself with the banana and Diet Dr. Pepper I bought the other day.

It was probably the lack of focus, but my mind was running on overload with crazy thoughts:
*So I am experiencing the April Showers bring May flowers thing...too bad I am not coming back this way to see it.
*So that was the name of the restaurant the guy told me about. It was Pear Tree, not Parity. I think I have been in HR way too long.
*I think John Mellencamp could have been from Missouri. There are so many small towns here too. I wonder why I never drove around to see some of them.....
*I wonder if farmers spend a lot of time thinking about it before they name their farms and if any change it in midstream. Heck, I had a hard time thinking what to call my blog, name my car, etc.
*What do you think tattoo artists did before they became popular. There seems to be one or two in each little town.
*I have not been in a regular store since last week, but I have been in Walmart both days on the road....am I replacing one addiction for another.....heaven help me if it's true.
*Did someone really think it made sense to put a large plastic cow up on a elevated stand in the front yard?

The good news is that I did come across a gas station, got a quick cup and got back on the road and instead of listening to my own random thoughts, I listened to Wayne Dwyer on the Pathways to Success. Of course his message was about knowing your have a higher self, trusting in it, that you attract into your life what you want, and know that when you come to a fork in the road, you don't always have to go down the familiar path.

Do I respond to suggestions and self help or what? A couple of things happened that were part of my new path...The road I was on reminded me a lot of highway 30 in Indiana - without the lights - and while I am normally driving about 72, today I was going an average of 62 mph. I was the person that annoys me so much when I am driving. I kept wishing that Steve Corbett could see me now. He would not be calling me a speedy menace. I saw things along the road that I hardly ever notice.

And one of the things I noticed was part of the other not something I normally do thing. I saw a billboard for Terrible's Casino and thought that maybe I would take that exit and see what would happen. I mean who would call a Casino Terrible, so it was worth checking it out. I generally hate casinos because of the smoke and the throwing away money.....but maybe I would be able to attract some money into my life. Obviously it has been awhile since I was in one.....I had to walk around (with my I am one tough butch woman swagger) and had a hard time finding a quarter slot machine. Did you know that you can push a button and turn one into either a 25 cent, 50 cent or 1 dollar machine? Well, feeling like a duck out of water, I put in my first 10 dollars and lost it immediately. I then found a "Double Diamond" machine, put in 5 dollars this time and ended up winning $20. Knowing I just accomplished 3 things that were different for me (went to a casino, was not a total loser, and didn't spend my time in the bar) I decided it was time to go.....Wasn't a bad way to spend and end a morning.
